Iditarod Facts In Brief |
| Location: Copper River Basin near Glenallen,
Alaska. Specifically, the race will start and finish at Wolverine
Lodge on Lake Louise. The halfway checkpoint will be
located near Paxon, Alaska. Note that weather conditions
forced race organizers to move the race from it's tradition route
along part of the Iditarod Trail.
Distance: 154 miles
Start and Finish Location: Wolverine Lodge on Lake
Louise. (Turn onto Lake Louise Rd at Mile 160 of the Glenn
Hwy and drive for 16 miles.)

Age of Competitors: Race rules
allow mushers between the ages of 14 and 17 ONLY.
Race Format: Teams run 77 miles from Wolverine
Lodge to a remote checkpoint, rest a mandatory 8 hours, and then return on the same
trail. The start time differential
is made up at the 8-hour layover. |
